About This Spot

Nestled quietly down a narrow alley in Osaka’s bustling Chuo Ward, Perry no Ikuradon welcomes you into a humble space where time feels a bit slower and the focus is on savoring one of Japan’s cherished treasures: fresh seafood donburi. There’s a gentle intimacy here—like stepping into a neighbor’s cozy kitchen—where the warmth of the owners’ spirited hospitality softly hums alongside the inviting clatter of bowls and chopsticks.

The rhythm of the place invites you to pause and appreciate the simple beauty of each ingredient, carefully chosen and prepared. The delicate pop of ikura against your tongue, the creamy richness of uni, and the briny sweetness of scallops come together in dishes that feel both comforting and celebratory. These bowls aren’t just meals; they are small moments of joy, quietly luxurious in their freshness and balance.

Though tucked away, the restaurant retains an unhurried, homely character that draws a steady stream of locals and travelers alike—each arriving with a shared appreciation for food that speaks of the sea and the seasons. The friendly presence of the couple who run the place adds a personal touch that lingers long after the last bite, making Perry no Ikuradon a spot that feels less like a destination and more like a thoughtfully kept secret worth returning to.

Great hidden spot that serves only ikura, uni, and scallop bowls. I got the ikura, uni, scallop bowl and all ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The couple that owns the restaurant were very friendly and the woman spoke English. Good value for the amount of food I received. Extra scallop serving was a no brainer at just +250 yen.

Inside a little hidden alleyway, look for the little yellow sign in my photo, and then down again. Some of the most warming and friendly owners, amazingly fresh and tasty bowls at very good prices. Will try the other bowls next time. Very homely and quiet. They are busy at 12pm, expect a queue. Try to go during non peak hours.

Chef and waiters are nice and friendly! Ikura(Salmon egg) and Uni(sea urchin) really delicious! You can either choose soft or hard Ikura, I suggest hard. Overall it is a restaurant you should try in Osaka!

Super fresh and yummy sea urchin. We have salmon roe scallop and abundant sea urchin. Very very delicious indeed. Owner and wife operates. Friendly and I did take away as I stay close by. Great value for money. Would love to keep revisiting

I got lucky and only had to queue for about 5 minutes. I ordered the ikura–uni bowl with scallops, and it turned out to be one of the most satisfying lunch sets I’ve had. The salmon roe was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavour, while the uni was both fresh and generously portioned, giving each bite a rich, creamy finish. Even the miso soup stood out with its deep, comforting umami. The owners were warm and friendly, and the menu was thoughtfully written in both Japanese and English. The tiny eatery feels like a little “fox in the hole” — tucked away, cozy, and full of charm — adding even more to the overall experience. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Osaka.

The restaurant has random day off and I had no luck to try it in the past four years every time I visited Osaka. And I finally got lucky this time We arrived at around 12pm and there were already over 10 people in the queue, we waited for about an hour to get in. The owner couple were warm and welcoming, also honest. The urchins and scallops were cheaper than usual on the day, so they told every customer that they will charger a few hundred yen cheaper than the price on the menu. They interacted with all the customers during the meal with simple English if anyone who doesn’t know Japanese. Not to mention that all the food they provided were very fresh and delicious, we will definitely come again whenever we visit Osaka.

This place is absolutely worth the hype. I waited over an hour to get seated due to the limited seating capacity, but every minute was worth it once I took that first bite. I went for the "hard and soft" ikura bowl, and it was hands down one of the most satisfying ikura lunch sets I've ever had. The quality of the salmon roe was next-level—bursting with flavor, fresh, and beautifully layered over perfectly seasoned rice. The contrast between the textures in the "hard and soft" ikura combo made it feel like a curated experience rather than just a meal. The owners were kind, warm, and genuinely passionate about what they serve, which added to the whole vibe of the place. Despite the wait, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Osaka. If you’re an ikura fan (or even just curious), don’t miss this spot.

Small 8 seat shop run by a friendly Japanese couple specialised in Ikura, Uni or scallop sashimi don. A real Japanese experience
